Hong Kong from A to Z

Hong Kong from A to Z - launching - bookazine-3

Here is the latest release! An alphabet book about Hong Kong, made with my dear friend Ellen Ng.
We worked on this project for 9 months, yes 9 months, the same amount of time as a baby in your body. As luck would have it, I received the book sample at the hospital entrance on the day our second son Nessim was born!

HK from A to Z - book 2

The idea had planted it’s seed a year ago while I was on a trip in Australia. Once I returned to Hong Kong, I presented the idea to Ellen who immediately accepted to join the adventure by writing the texts.
Ellen is little Emma’s mom, we quickly agreed to name our heroine “Ayma” a mix of “Aydan” (my eldest son) and “Emma”.

I really loved working with Ellen, she helped bring this project to a dimension that I certainly would not have achieved by myself. Although we each have a specific role, Ellen writes and I illustrate, we have worked very closely, bouncing off each other’s ideas, thus creating very dynamic exchanges!
We have developped and printed the book and are currently working on its commercialisation.
This is a very exciting adventure as well as very diverse!

This book is for children, so we will be donating a portion of our profits to a charitable organisation for disadvantaged children in Hong Kong. We are still looking for the right partner, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any organisation recommendations!
We have launched a Facebook page to keep you up updated about the book. We will also have a lot of events to come, do not miss anything HERE.

Dear Fall

Fall is really here and we are finally enjoying its cool weather. The air becomes dry and the night regains its silence with all the air conditioning units turned off. A great happiness and probably my favorite season.

Fall also coincides with that time of the year when we suddenly crave change. Change of colors and materials. This year,  I am particularly fond of carmine reds, grey and powder pink. The light pink, although already trendy this past summer, continues to claim the spotlight in fashion and interior design.

Here is a little selection of images that inspire me this year:

Special sale at our workshop

Mark your calendar!
Thursday June 12 morning (9am-12:30pm)

charity_sale_DB_12june-05

We are organizing a sale in our showroom of Discovery Bay next week in favor of DB Mothers & Friends and Tung Chung  Mothers & Friends » .
Nikki Boot, the founder of these organisations, collects all the unwanted second-hand furniture and household items from DB and Tung Chung residents to the charities, NGOs and green organisations to redistribute them to the poor, needy, low income families and new migrants in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong as every other big cities has a its part of sadness. Far from the shiny towers, many people live in very difficult conditions and what great with Nikki is that she gives you an amazing feedback of your donations. She will grab her 2.5 kids, bring by herself items to families and make you part of the adventure by sharing photos and vibrant stories!

In addition to donations, she also needs cash to organize collections and delivery to pay for tolls, hiring drivers and movers, parking and other miscellaneous expenses etc.
I’m very happy to organize this sale to help too. 50% of existing stock sale and 20% of new orders will be returned to DB/TC Mothers & Friends.
In addition of our usual stock available on our e_shop, we will sale at attractive price all our sample items.

So join us for a fun shopping party on Thursday June 12 morning (9am-12:30pm) at the M&G workshop  (14F Greendale Court, Discovery Bay – Bus C04 from pier plaza or bus C09 from North plaza)
It’s the moment to take your morning off and plan a relaxing lunch with your friends on the DB deck afterwards! ^^
Kindly RSVP at contact@marguerite-gribouilli.com

DIY – Lai see

laisee diy-08

The Lunar New Year being just around the corner, I have prepared for you a set of 5 “lai-see” (red envelops in English) that you can easily make yourself.
It’s also a great activity to share with kids, that will keep them busy for hours!

You simply need to download and print this pdf file and follow the instructions below:

laisee diy-09 [.pdf]    laisee diy-09 [.png]

laisee diy-01

I hope you will enjoy this little gift and have a good time with your loved ones.

Tips:
- you will have a better result with a 120gr paper (available at any stationnary shop)
- print without scale (at 100%) otherwise your envelop will be to small for the bills.

Important notes:
This template is free for personal use only, not for commercial use. You can print as many as you like for yourself or as a gift to someone, but you are not allowed to sell this artwork in digital or print form, nor to distribute it in its original or in an altered form.
