Gradient textured effect

I recently had the opportunity to work on two wall projects quite similar to each other in terms of technique.
Both are in shades of grey but with bases of different colours (one has a grey base and the other has a white base) and both have a gradient effect.
The gradient is quite trendy at the moment, the return of the 70s in fashion and decoration in recent seasons is certainly responsible for the trend.

Gradients increase the impression of space by “stretching” the colour.
The effect obtained is light. The gradient brings colour without saturating the room.
I find the effect very interesting although technically more difficult to do than an ordinary texture effect.
I invite you to reread the article “Half painted walls” which explains the kind of effect.
My clients are still in the “moving in” phase, I hope to show you photos with the furniture and decoration very soon.

Copper leaves and painted tree

Sometimes a move coincides with a new start in life or a new family reorganization. Separation, a new child; changes in family structures are often delicate and should be treated with the utmost attention.
Your interior design can help you feel better and it is with great interest that I saw this mural project being built.
The first aim of this project was to increase the emphasis on family values such as love and unity. It seemed obvious to me to work the theme of the tree. Through the symbols of strength, roots, solidity or support, the tree is placed in the living room of this family. We have accompanied it with a poem which has been treated with simplicity and copper leaf for a bright and luminous effect.

The installation of the copper leaf was a first for me, but it definitely wasn’t the last! If you’re interested I’ll post a small memo to explain the different steps for installing the metallic leaves.

Apart from the poem, which is a black sticker, this whole wall is made by hand, acrylic paint and copper leaf.

Designs for cool kids

P1100539Our little ones are heading back to school and it might just be the perfect time to redecorate their room. Some of you might have already done just that but for those that are still contemplating different options, here are three rooms I designed this summer to help trigger your inspiration.

TITRES-09The first one is my son’s Aydan’s. He is five years old. The background was made with paint and masking tape. It is geometrical and so quite easy to draw and replicate. The stickers are from our dinosaures collection available in our e-shop right here.

The two following rooms were designed based on existing models. It is an ideal option for those wishing to do something special, yet tailor-made for their space and budget! It usually takes us no more than 7 to 10 days to come up with a design plan, which can later be followed by the installation (but not necessarily). We start by discussing the spirit of the room before deciding on the color of the background and selecting the theme of the room. So don’t hesitate to contact us to schedule a house visit, designing kids’ rooms is one of my favorite parts of my job!

TITRES-11For her big brother Aaron, we went with a combination of grey, peacock blue and orange. We added a touch of fun and color to the gray wall using a 2.5 meters long sticker from the “Plain is boring” collection. Different lengths (up to 3 meters) are now available in our boutique to better fit your spaces and furniture.

Pink concrete

P1100508

Anita was looking for a special texture effect for her living room.
We started by making some samplings to define the desired effects and make sure the colors will match the furniture and fabrics.

The installation took us one and a half day for 12 square meters. I started by the grey base and added on the last layer some pink touches.
This kind of patines are very economical in paint and very green with “zero waste”!

A piece of my home, the entrance

If you live in Hong Kong you will have, in the coming weeks, plenty of time to take care of your indoors. You know it! Rainy season has definitely started.

I took advantage of the bad weather this week-end to redecorate our entrance, a project that has been on the back burner for over two years. In this space, we have been using a set from Ikea’s BESTA collection, which is conveniently modular.  I like the pure lines and the glossy finish of the furniture, which gives it a very smooth look.

With that being said, I still wanted to add to it my own personal touch. And so all of a sudden this long overdue project became in the morning a matter of emergency that had to be finished before the end of the day!

And so a few brush strokes and hammer blows later, we were able to enjoy our new entrance.

Redecorating the space meant adding a splash of color to the walls and the furniture. We first started by painting a large streak on the main wall, a quick and easy task my little assistant helped with.

Then, instead of using regular frames, I attached family photos to a rope and taped some directly to the wall using washi tape. I also hung a large world map canvas from the M&G collection (available here). I like the playfulness this canvas brings to the space.

To add a touch of color both to the walls and the furniture, I used the Gros pois stickers (girl palette). And I customized the furniture doors with stickers from the Plain is boring collection, which will be available soon in our e-shop,  so stay tuned!
